Notice to our Suppliers: Fraudulent Purchase Order Email Activity

We want to alert you to an active email scam involving purchase orders and request for product quotations that claim to originate from Betts Company, BettsHD, and Betts Spring Manufacturing, but are in fact fraudulent. While Betts Company cannot prevent this illegal activity, we will actively work with law enforcement to investigate these fraudulent email contacts.

Please be cautious and alert to potentially false emails and order documentation, and carefully review unsolicited POs purporting to be from Betts Company (or Betts Spring Manufacturing, BettsHD, and Betts Truck Parts & Service), especially if Betts Company or one of its divisions is not already a customer of yours.

We can share some common traits or themes of these fraudulent emails that may help reduce risk to your company in becoming a financial victim of this scam:

  • The email message is poorly written, with misspellings and awkward sentence structure
  • The sender’s email address or website link are not authentic to Betts Company or our divisions
  • The message requests shipment of products to non-Betts addresses
  • The message may include an attachment that is designed to look like a purchase order, may include a logo or other graphic, and a signature that may look legitimate

If you believe you have received a fraudulent email that appears to be from Betts Company or one of our divisions, you may forward it to our Finance department at bettsaccounting@betts1868.com to verify its legitimacy before responding to the email or filling the order.

We understand this may be part of a massive nationwide scam.  Betts Company and its divisions accept no liability for goods shipped based on fraudulent emails, purchase orders, or other documentation purporting to be from Betts Company and its divisions, and will not pay invoices, damages or expenses of any supplier deceived by the fraud.
