Betts Truck Parts Custom U-Bolt Nationwide Expansion

FRESNO, CA, September 16, 2026 — For more than 55 years, getting a custom U-bolt from Betts Truck Parts & Service meant walking into one of the company’s branches.

Not anymore.

Betts TPS has launched nationwide shipping for its custom U-bolt program, taking a service once limited to in-person branch visits and opening it to fleets, mechanics, and vehicle owners anywhere in the country.

Orders now ship from the company’s Fresno, California facility to all 50 states, with same-day or next-day fulfillment on most custom orders.

“We’ve been bending U-bolts to exact spec since 1970, but until now, you had to come see us in person,” said John Devany, General Manager of Betts Truck Parts & Service. “Opening that up to the whole country means a fleet in Ohio or a guy building a lift kit in Texas gets the same custom fit and the same fast turnaround our branch customers have relied on for decades.”

Built to Spec, Not Off the Shelf

Betts manufactures each U-bolt to order rather than pulling from a fixed catalog of sizes. Customers choose round, square, or semi-round bends in Grade 5 (3/8 inch to 9/16 inch rod diameter) or Grade 8 (5/8 inch to 1 1/4 inch rod diameter) unplated steel, built to the inside width and leg length their application calls for. Grade 8 U-bolts are rated up to 1,300 ft-lb of torque, enough for the heaviest commercial suspension work.

Quotes take about 24 hours. Customers submit rod diameter, inside width, leg length, and vehicle details online, with the option to upload photos for anyone unsure how to measure. Betts ships ground (3 to 7 business days), expedited (2 to 3 days), overnight for same-day emergencies ordered by noon Pacific, or freight for bulk fleet orders.

Local pickup is still available at the Fresno warehouse Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific.

A Bigger Market Than Heavy-Duty Trucks

Betts built its U-bolt reputation on leaf spring service for semi-trucks, trailers, and commercial fleets. Nationwide shipping opens the same manufacturing line to a wider set of vehicles and builds, including lift kits, lowering kits, spacer and block suspensions, motorhomes and P-30 chassis builds, vans, off-road rigs, and hot rods.

Why the Old U-Bolt Has to Go

Every custom quote comes with the same reminder from Betts: never reuse a U-bolt when servicing leaf springs. U-bolts stretch and fatigue under load over time. A stretched U-bolt cannot deliver the clamping force the spring pack needs, and that can lead to axle shifting or spring failure down the road. Betts recommends re-torquing new U-bolts within 500 miles of installation, once the leaf springs have had a chance to settle.
